VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTS TO PREVENT/TREAT COVID?

I can always hear radio advertisements regarding Vitamin D3 supplementation in preventing diseases especially COVID patients. In fact, I have one patient before who had been prescribed by another doctor of Vitamin D3. I have come upon a good video in you tube wherein it discusses the merit of using vitamin D3 supplementation as a treatment for COVID and cites good, credible clinical trials and medical studies about it. (I will link the said youtube video below:)

So regarding Vitamin D supplementation: according to studies, vitamin D insufficiency MAY INCREASE THE RISK of COVID and Covid complications BUT vitamin D supplementation IS ONLY VALUABLE TO THOSE WHO ARE VITAMIN D DEFICIENT. Meaning Vitamin D supplementation for those who are Not Vitamin D Deficient may not be of great value.

For LAYPERSONS: those who have LOW VITAMIN D - it increases the risk that you will have COVID AND OCCURENCE OF SEVERE COVID. BUT... NOT ALL Healthy Persons or NOT ALL who are COVID positive HAVE LOW VITAMIN D (They may have NORMAL Vitamin D levels). So VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTATION are ONLY BENEFICIAL if you have LOW VITAMIN D.
This simply means that for those healthy individuals who may not have symptoms or even for those who had been COVID positive, as long as your Vitamin D levels are normal, taking Vitamin D supplements may not really give you added benefits at all.

As explained in the video, those persons who may have low Vitamin D levels may likely be those people who can't move much or is staying in a cramped, humid and not well-ventilated environments. If you take a little bit of research (Google anyone?), Vitamin D is already present in your skin but THEY ARE DEACTIVATED and in order to ACTIVATE THEM, you need a little bit of sunlight.

So instead of taking vitamin D supplementations, it may be more beneficial to you to take a little sunbathing especially early in the morning.
